Welcome back to the summer term We are looking forward to more sunny days, outdoor learning, and visits. We have lots of exciting activities planned. Letters have gone home today from each class outlining the topics and routines. Enjoying the sunshine this week, classes 3 and 4 have been playing tennis and cricket. Pictured below are Y5 girls Rebecca and Amelie who have been selected to play cricket for the North Yorkshire under 11 girls team. Also our Reception children using the new water play station funded through our Tesco grant. A big thank you to Friends of School for organising this.

Diary dates for the term A full list of diary dates for key events in the summer term has gone home today. All key dates are in the Calendar on our website. Additional paper copies are available from the office.

Communicating with parents In addition to sending home our newsletters and termly dates in paper form they are also on our school website and are emailed to parents from the office. Please give your email address to the office if you would like this to happen.

Clubs for this half term Clubs will start again next week and children have already received their confirmation slips. Clubs which are oversubscribed will rotate next half term and children will be placed on a waiting list.

Wednesday 25th April  -  Class 4 are Victorians, visiting Ripon Workhouse in the morning and Ripon Cathedral in the afternoon. 

Friday 4th May - Classes 1 and 2 visit Durham Cathedral and explore the life of Saint Cuthbert. Both these visits were rearranged following our snow days.

School uniform and PE kit reminders for the summer term A reminder to name all items of clothing for the summer term. As the weather improves girls may wear blue gingham checked summer dresses and children may wear grey or black shorts. We will aim to do our PE lessons outside so all children need a full kit; black shorts and track suit trousers (separate from those used at playtime), plain white t shirt, trainers for outside PE. The children will still need a change of indoor shoes.

Year 6 SAT’s Week Monday 14th to Thursday 17th May Our Year 6 children sit their tests during this week so please continue to support them in their preparations for these with homework activities. Bikeability Cycling Training for Year 5    Children will need a bike in working order and a helmet if they want to take part in this. Further details and consent forms to follow.

School Swimming All children from Y1 upwards will swim with school and qualified instructors at Catterick Swimming baths for a 10 week series of lessons starting next week. Year 1 and 2 will always swim on Wednesday. Due to activities there will be some changes to days for Classes 3 and 4. Next week Class 3 swim on Wednesday and Class 4 on Thursday.

Fire Safety Talk today all children had presentations on fire safety. For further advice or to book a free fire safety visit and smoke alarm check for home: 01609 788545

St George’s Day Monday 23rd April Children who attend uniformed groups such as Brownies, Guides, Cubs, Scouts may wear their uniforms for school on Monday if they wish.

Friends of the School Meeting Wednesday 25th April 3.30pm in the IT suite. All welcome.

Congratulations to our Lego Brickmasters Challenge Team Pictured below are our two teams of Y4/5/6 children who represented our school and solved problems and lego technic challenges at Richmond School this morning.

Parish News-Confirmation for children in Y6 upwards Moving Images, Changing Lives- uses film clips to explore what it means to be a Christian and to live a life of faith. Rev Yvonne would like to invite children (Y6 upwards) to a confirmation group starting on Wednesday 25th April from 5.15pm 6.30pm at The Old School House, Brompton-onSwale.
