Dear Parents,

 

Welcome back to the summer term. We are looking forward to better weather, outdoor learning, trips and visits. We have lots of exciting activities planned. Letters have gone home today from each class outlining the topics and routines.

Diary dates for the term

A full list of diary dates for key events in the summer term has also gone home today.

Communicating with parents

In addition to sending home our newsletters and termly dates in paper form they are also on our school website and are emailed to parents from the office. Please give your email address to the office if you would like this to happen.

Official Opening of our Reflection Garden Monday 25th April, 9.45am

On Monday 25th April our new school garden will be officially opened by Bishop James Bell, Bishop of Ripon. He will join us for an assembly at 9.30am and we will gather in the garden at 9.45am for a short opening ceremony. Parents our welcome to join us outside for this.

Class  Photographs  and Groups

Whole class photographs and group photographs will be taken next Friday 22nd April.

Clubs for this half term

Thank you for returning your booking forms so promptly. Slips have been sent home confirming your choices. Clubs will start next week (apart from Cookery which will start on Thursday 28th April).

There are still some places available in Multiskills for Y1/2 on Monday; Tennis for Y3/4 on Tuesday; football for Y1/2 on Tuesday; Craft Club Y3/4/5/6 on Wednesday; Rural Challenge Y2 upwards on Thursday morning.

Clubs which are oversubscribed will rotate next half term.

Sports Premium funding this term

Our Sports Premium funding this term is supporting after school clubs; Y1/2 Multiskills; Y3/4 tennis; Y1/2 football. In curriculum lesson time it is supporting gymnastics for Classes 1 and 4; Cricket and Athletics for all of KS2. It is also supporting a lunchtime cricket club open to all.

Trialling the ‘Daily Mile’

In a bid to keep our bodies and brains active we are going to be trialling the ‘Daily Mile’ in our classes. Have a look on Espresso www.espresso.co.uk/  student23945

School Swimming

Children in Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 will swim on Wednesday afternoon at Catterick Swimming Baths starting next Wednesday 20th April. Class 4 will swim on Thursday afternoon starting on 21st April. Please ensure you have returned your consent forms and made payments.

Year 6 SAT’s Week Monday 9th to Thursday 12th May

Our Year 6 children sit their tests during this week so please continue to support them in their preparations for these with homework, spelling lists and maths booklets.

Instrumental Lessons in school

Flute lessons with Mr Waters started this week. Violin, cello and piano lessons with Mrs Jameson will start on Wednesday 20th April. All children in Class 3 will receive whole class violin/cello lessons with Mrs Jameson this term and again in September 16.

If your child is interested in starting instrumental lessons in a group/ individual basis from September please discuss this with Mrs Dobson.

Headlice

Unfortunately, after returning from the holidays we have some cases of headlice in school. Please be vigilant about checking your child’s hair.
