Transition between classes and reports home to parents
Children in Y1 upwards receive their reports today. If you would like to discuss this report in more detail please speak to your child’s teacher to make an appointment. On Monday 18th July at 3.30pm we will hold our open classroom drop in. This is an opportunity to visit your child’s new classroom and teacher for September and to see your child’s work and books from this term.
Teacher Assessment in Reports to Parents
For children in Year 2 and Year 6 the government’s new statutory assessment language is used and there are leaflets in the children’s reports to explain the terminology.
For children in Y1,3, 4, and 5 we have carried out Teacher Assessments and reported these to you using the same terminology. The expected standard is the age related standard.
For Reading, Writing and Maths the terminology is:
Working towards the expected standard
Working at the expected standard
Working at greater depth within the expected standard
Fun Run for Children in Classes 1 and 2 at Richmond School
Well done to all our children who had great fun taking part in this event. The children’s behaviour was outstanding. There were some great individual performances, competing against other schools also.
Reception: Aidan Ramsay 2nd place; Jack Sykes 3rd place
Year 1: Edward Wilkinson 2nd place
Year 2: Scarlet Hunter 1st place
‘Pirates versus Mermaids’ School Production
A huge thank you to all the children and staff who worked so hard to make this performance such a great success. Thank you to all our parents who supported the two nights of performances in the village hall and provided refreshments. These were memorable occasions particularly for our Leavers who gave some ‘star’ performances.
Summer Fair Friday 15th July 1.30pm
Thank you to everyone who has so generously sent in donations for our fair today. We are looking forward to an exciting afternoon.
Sports Day Tuesday 19th July at 1.30pm
Everyone is invited to join us for the afternoon to watch the children take part in a variety of activities and races. The children traditionally wear a t shirt that is the colour of their house; red, blue, green or yellow. They do not need them until the day itself. If this is tricky a white t shirt is still fine; the children will have coloured stickers also.
Parent helpers for Sports Day If you can help for even part of the afternoon; serving refreshments outside that would be much appreciated. Please speak to myself or Beth Wheldon (FoS).
Fruity Friday has now finished for the summer
Thank you from all the children for supporting their healthy eating initiative again this year.
Year 6 Bikeability reminder
On Monday 18th July and Tuesday morning 19th July the Y6 children can take part in this cycling safety course. They need to have their completed forms, bike and helmet with them on Monday morning.
Year 6 Leaver’s Assembly Friday 22nd July 2.30pm
Everyone is welcome to join us for this special occasion when we celebrate and say farewell to our Year 6 Leavers as they move on to Secondary School.

We have sent home a variety of leaflets publicising a range of summer holiday activities in the local community. We are once again promoting the Library Service Reading Summer Challenge – The Big Friendly Read. The children enjoyed a presentation today and leaflets have gone home. It is free!
