Reception children settling well
Congratulations to our Reception children who are settling very well. We look forward to welcoming them for full days next week. On Thursday 22nd September there will a drop in coffee morning for Reception parents/carers in the hall from 9.00am to 10.00am. This is a good opportunity to meet other parents/carers and to chat informally to Mrs Reynolds and Mrs Parr. Friends of the School are kindly hosting this.
Open Evenings at Richmond Secondary and Saint Francis Xavier Secondary Schools
Parents and children, particularly those in Year 6, are invited to Open Evenings:
Saint Francis Xavier Thursday 22nd September 6.30pm
Richmond Secondary School Tuesday 27th September 6pm
Our Christian value –Respect
This week we have explored how we show respect for others through the New Testament Story, ‘The Good Samaritan’ and in the values of the Paralympic Games.
The Parish ‘Open the Book Team’ worked with a group of children to dramatise the story of Creation and we reflected on how we care for our created world, especially as a Green Flag Eco School.
Dates for term and school year
A full list of term dates for the academic year was sent home last week. There was also a diary dates list for this term which highlights key events, performances etc. In addition each class sent out Curriculum letters. You can also find these on our website.
Parental Class Assembly
Each class has their own assembly this term on Thursday morning at 9.30am. Parents, relatives, carers of children in that class are invited to this. It is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about your child’s learning. Dates for each class are on the diary list.
Parent Teacher Consultations
There are dates on the diary list for these. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions or queries at any time. You can also contact the office by phone or email or use your child’s diary/planner to communicate.
Our school clubs start again next week, Monday 19th September. Our school staff and parents run these voluntarily. We do our very best to give each child at least one club, depending on requests. For oversubscribed clubs we operate a waiting list system.
Your child has received a slip confirming their club choice attendance for this half term.
Cookery Club is run by parent volunteers. We are in desperate need of more helpers; please speak to Beth Wheldon or myself if you can help, even once a half term - we could organise a rota. It would be very sad for the children if this club had to finish.
Rural Challenge Thursday evening group
New members are welcome at this group which meets at St Paul’s Church Hall, Brompton-on-Swale from 5.15pm-6.30pm.
A reminder that homework is usually sent home on a Friday to be returned on Wednesday. This is in addition to their reading books. Individual classes will have their own routines for testing spellings – see the class newsletters sent home last week.
Classes 3 and 4 have a big maths focus on rapid recall of times tables to x12.
Any queries, please ask.
As a school we are continuing to subscribe to an excellent online learning resource, ESPRESSO. Children can access this in school. To access from home:
www.espresso.co.uk/ student23945 bolton
This password and login is the same for everyone as this a learning resource not a personalised learning platform. There are lots of educational games, news clips, current affairs – do share this resource with your child.
This newsletter is sent out every Friday. If you would like to receive it by email please send an email to the admin address above.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any queries.
