Dear Parents,

Congratulations to Class 4 on their Class Assembly

A special mention this week for an excellent Class assembly from Class 4. This was planned by the children with songs and poetry exploring racism; stories and drama to illustrate our Christian values; role play around the Victorian Workhouse and school and the science behind the heart.

New Parent Governor

We are delighted to announce that our new parent governor is Louise Gigante, mother of Alex Gilbert in Year 1.

Cross Country Finalists

Well done to our finalists who competed yesterday on a challenging course at Dalby Forest. Across the whole of North Yorkshire they were placed as follows:

Year 3 Girls  Ellen Newton          12th place

Year 3 Boys  Ashton Newall   19th place;       Archie Tulip   55th place

Year 5 Boys  Finlay Tulip 4th place

Year 5 Girls  Beth Reed  51st place

School Swimming after Easter

All children from Y1 upwards will swim with school and qualified instructors at Catterick Swimming baths for a 10 week series of lessons starting the second week after Easter. Letters have been sent home with more details. Please ensure you have returned your consent/payment slip by next Thursday 24 March.

Diary Dates until the end of term

Wednesday 23rd March  Decorate an egg and Easter bonnet competition.

                                      Easter tombola for all – 50p.

Egg Rolling 2pm. All welcome, refreshments and Cake Stall with FoS

Thursday 24th March       Easter Service in Church 2pm. All welcome. Finish for Easter

Easter Activities and traditions at Bolton-on-Swale

On the morning of Wednesday 23rd March the children are asked to bring in a decorated hard boiled egg and an Easter bonnet/hat if they wish. They also need a spare hard boiled egg for the egg rolling in the afternoon. Prizes are awarded in age categories and the eggs and bonnets are on display. Friends of the School will also run an Easter tombola and the children will need 50p to take part in this.

On the afternoon of Wednesday 23rd March at 2pm you are invited to join us to watch the children roll their eggs. We will also present the prizes donated by Friends of the School for the egg decorating and bonnet competitions. Friends of the School will also serve refreshments and there will be a cake stall.

On Thursday 24th March at 2pm you are invited to join us at St Mary’s Church for our Easter Service, led by the children.

Friends of the School Cake Stall request

Please bake a cake for the stall on Wednesday 23rd March at the egg rolling. Cakes can be brought into school in the morning.

Easter Holiday Sewing Club

These will run on from 10am to 2pmon Thursday 31st March, Friday 1st April, Wednesday 6th and Friday 8th April for children aged 6-13 years. To book a place contact Catherine Marshall on 01748 810824 or email catherinemarshall38@hotmail.co.uk

Michael Syddall Education Foundation Parish Representative for the village
