Dear Parents,

Celebrating outstanding academic results in summer 2017

Our school received a letter of congratulation from the Minster of State for School Standards congratulating all our staff and pupils on the excellent results our children achieved in assessments in summer 2017. Since we work in partnership with you as parents also – a huge thank you for everything you do to help us to ensure that each child reaches their own potential.

Collective Worship, Charitable giving and Christian values

This week we celebrated All Saints’ Day in our worship. We have been nominating our own modern day Saints and thinking about how we can become more ‘saint-like’ in our lives. You may have heard about our tinsel haloes!

Remembrance Sunday – in preparation for this we are selling poppies and other items to support the Royal British Legion. We will have our own age appropriate act of remembrance next week in school.

Ripon Cathedral Annual Service for service pupils – our KS2 service pupils will be attending this service and they have details in a letter sent home today.

Children in Need Friday 17th November – the School Council have asked that we have this as a non-uniform day. Donations of £1 to the charity can be made if you wish.

Christmas Shoebox Appeal – we are once again supporting this. Leaflets on how to pack a shoebox have gone home today. We also welcome contributions of items towards making up shoe box as a class in school. We need to complete these by

Friday 17th November.

Staffing update

Mr Ramsbottom will now be absent from school from Friday 3rd November until Monday 20th November. During this time Class 3 will be taught by Mrs Wright who teaches regularly in Class 3. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.

Road and Bike Safety on the pavement

We encourage children to walk and cycle to school if they can. The safest way for young children when cycling to school is to use the pavement. One of our younger children was accidentally knocked over on the pavement by an older child cycling home last night. This was an accident but we have discussed with all children the importance of considering pedestrians on the pavement; cycling more slowly and using a bell to warn others. Our Year 5 children will once again have road safety bikeablility training in the summer term 2018. It is important that we make the roads and pavements around our school safe for everyone.

Clubs this half term

New clubs have started again this week and will run until the week beginning 4th

December (apart from sewing which finishes on 14.12.17). All children have already

had confirmation slips returned for places.

Halloween School Disco Friday 10th November – details have been sent home by FoS. Please return your booking forms to the office. It is also fine to turn up on the night and pay. Please remember that all children need to be accompanied by an adult. Children often like to dress up for this!

November date reminders:

Class 4 Parental Assembly – Thursday 9th November 9.30am.

Class 2 Parental Assembly – Thursday 16th November 9.30am.

Bonfire Night at Catterick Village Sports Field- Sunday 5th November. Gates open at 6pm. Display 7pm. Adults £2; Children £1.
