Dear Parents,

Congratulations to Class 3 on their Class Assembly

We all thoroughly enjoyed our exploration of the continent of North America with Class 3’s assembly this week. We were impressed with their factual knowledge, descriptive writing, science and wonderful singing. We gained an excellent insight into their learning in class. Thank you to parents and carers who came to support them.

Parent Teacher Consultations this week

Thank you for your excellent attendance and feedback. The children enjoy sharing their books and learning with you. Your continued support is much appreciated.

Clean for the Queen

As part of the national campaign to celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday our Eco Club spent their time after school yesterday litter picking in the school grounds and did a fantastic job. Children attending the Rural Challenge Club on Friday morning are planning a Scorton village litter pick on the morning of Friday 18th March.

 World Book Day Celebrations today

Everyone, staff and children have enjoyed a great day dressed as book characters. We have explored well known authors and have a wonderful selection of characters.

Book Fair in School and World Book Day vouchers

All the children have a World Book Day voucher to take home tonight. This can be used at the school book fair and in other stores. Look out for the special £1 books.

The Book Fair will be open after school today and then each morning and after school until Thursday 10th March.

Clubs this half term

Clubs for this half term will continue for another 2 weeks finishing in the week beginning 14th March to allow for Easter activities. On Thursday 10th March there will be no Eco or Football Club due to the KS2 cross country competition.

Class 2 Parental Assembly

Parents and carers of children in Class 2 are invited into school next Thursday 10th March at 9.30am. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about your child’s work in class.

Marrick Residential Visit  Information Meeting for Year 6 in September 2016

A reminder that this meeting is Tuesday 15th March at 6pm.This meeting is at Brompton-on-Swale School this year.

KS 2 Cross country on Thursday 10th March at Catterick Racecourse

KS2 children attending this event have had details and should have returned their consent slips. A reminder to bring tracksuit trousers, trainers to run in and a drink and snack (the children need these in school with them as they will be seated separately from spectators). You are welcome to spectate and are asked to follow the designated parking signs and to sit in the designated viewing area. Instructions for spectators are given by the organisers as follows:

Parents and spectators are asked to go to the designated viewing area. Parents should remain in this separate area for the duration of the races. After the final race they will be able to join schools for the presentation. These measures are for children’s safety – to ensure they are not mingling with unknown adults.

The times of the race are as follows:

1.10pm           Y3 Girls           1.25pm           Y3 Boys

1.40pm           Y4 Girls           1.55pm           Y4 Boys

2.15pm           Y5 Girls           2.30pm           Y5 Boys

2.45pm           Y6 Girls           3.00pm           Y6 Boys

3.15pm           Staff race

If you have completed the form indicating you will be collecting your child at the race course you will need to wait until 3.30pm, the end of the races to collect them. Please ensure you tell Mrs Jones or Mr Ramsbottom that you have taken your child. Children returning to school on the coach with staff will be back at approximately 4pm.

Class 4 visit to Workhouse Museum and Ripon Cathedral Tuesday 15th March

Year 4 children have details in a letter sent home yesterday.

School Disco tonight

Classes 1 and 2 6-7pm; Classes 3 and 4  7.15-8.15pm. £2 entry including hot dogs.

Please note that all children need to be supervised by an adult who stays with them.
