Dear Parents,

Congratulations to Class 1 on their excellent Parental  Assembly

Thank you to everyone who came to support Class 1’s Parental Assembly, they performed brilliantly. We enjoyed learning about all the different aspects of their curriculum; especially their ‘All about me’ topic. A special well done to our Reception children who spoke so confidently at their first assembly. Well done also to our Year 6 Buddies who are supporting them so well.

Class 2 have their parental assembly on Thursday 17th November at 9.30am

Class 3 have their parental assembly on Thursday 3rd November at 9.30am

Class 4 have their parental assembly on Thursday 10th November at 9.30am

Our Christian value –Respect

This week we have thought about respect for our created world and our role as an Eco Green Flag School. The Eco team have been busy planting bulbs and winter flowering plants as well as tidying our school grounds for the autumn. Our Worship Leaders helped us to think about St Francis and our care for pets and animals.

Congratulations to our  Football Teams – double winners in the Richmond Area

Our Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 Football Teams have competed in the Richmond area tournaments in the last two weeks. Their behaviour was excellent and they worked well as a team. Both our boys’ teams finished in first place in the tournament.

Book Fair Thank you

Thank you to everyone who has supported our Book Fair in school this week. We raised £328.52  in commission which will buy new books for our class and school library.

Bags 2 School Fundraising

Thank you for supporting this. FoS raised £78.00 for school funds.

Parent Teacher Consultations Reception parents On Thursday 20th October children of Reception parents can book an appointment to meet with Mrs Reynolds and discuss how their child has settled into school. You can book a slot between 1.30pm and 5.45pm. Please sign up for a time slot in the office reception entrance area or phone/email the office to book.

Class 3 Bolton Castle Tudor visit Monday 10th October

A reminder that children in Class 3 do not need school uniform for their visit. They do need a packed lunch and drink; warm clothing and comfortable shoes/trainers. Boys are asked to tuck their trousers into long socks. They will be given authentic Tudor costume on arrival at the Castle. They should return in time for the end of the school day.

Class 4 Crucial Crew RAF Leeming visit

A reminder that Class 4 need to return their consent forms for this afternoon visit.

Theatre Performance ‘The Wizard of Oz’

A reminder that the whole school will enjoy a ‘child friendly’ version of this classic production in school next Tuesday afternoon 11th October. This has been funded by FoS fundraising during last year.

Individual School Photographs Friday 14th October

Tempest school Photography will take individual photographs of each child in school next Friday morning. Children who have siblings in school will also be photographed together. If you have a younger sibling and would like them to be included these photos will be taken before school from 8.30am in the school hall. You may then choose to buy these photos but they are not otherwise circulated.

Friends of the School AGM and planning meeting Monday 10th October 7pm in school Please make this a priority for attending; there are refreshments and it is very sociable and a great way for new parents of Reception children to meet others.  

Parish Harvest Festival  Sunday 9th October St Mary’s Church 3pm

You are all invited to join with the Parish in celebrating Harvest. This year the Parish are supporting the charity WorkAid. This charity works with volunteers to collect and refurbish tools to send to East Africa. Donations of all trade tools (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, building, blacksmithing, welding, lathes, motor mechanic, sewing machines, bicycles, garden tools, typewriters). These can be brought to St Mary’s Church on Sunday afternoon. We may also be able to arrange collection.

Half term Holiday Sewing Club

Mrs Marshall will be running the holiday sewing club on Tuesday 25th October 10-2pm at the Sewing Studio, Ellerton upon Swale. Cost £15, bring a packed lunch. They are making Halloween themed tote bags. Email Catherinemarshall38@hotmail.co.uk to book a place.

Clothing in school

As the weather changes children need to bring waterproof trousers/tracksuit trousers to cover their school clothes if they wish to go on the field at playtimes. Please, please name all clothing
