Friday 8th January 2016
Happy New Year and welcome back to a new term.
Another big thank you to all the children and parents for your very generous and kind Christmas gifts and greetings.
Ofsted Inspection letter
We are delighted with the outcome of our inspection HMI visit before Christmas. You can read the full report in the attached letter which is also on our school website.
The report describes us as: ‘a very successful learning community.’
‘a vibrant learning environment in which the breadth of the curriculum shines through and pupils’ individuality is recognised.’
We are particularly proud of our children: ‘Pupils behave extremely well. Pupils are mature, lively and respectful; they are credit to their school.’
Ofsted visited in December under a new inspection category, ‘Section 8’ which is not a full inspection but a one-day visit. From September 2015 all schools judged ‘good’ at their last inspection will receive a Section 8 visit after 3 years to check that the judgement is still an accurate reflection of the school.
Thank you to those who completed the online Parent view survey.

Homework across the whole school will continue to go home on Friday to be returned by Wednesday. It is important to ensure your child has their reading record/planner and reading book in school each day. Hearing your child read regularly and asking questions about the text is really important for reading progress. Please sign your child’s diary/planner so the Class teacher’s knows your child is getting this support from home.
Maths and learning times tables Learning times tables is an area in which you can really help your child make progress in Maths. The new curriculum asks that:
By the end of Year 2 children should know: x2, x5, x10 tables. . 2 x 7= 14; 10÷2=5
By the end of Year 3 children should also know x3, x4, x 8 tables 4x8= 32; 64÷8=8
By the end of Year 4 your child needs to know all their tables to x12 mixed up, with a quick response: 8x9= 7x8= 9x7= . The equivalent division bond is also important: 72÷8 = 56÷7= 63÷9=
Please ask your child’s class teacher if you are unsure regarding any areas of homework.
