16th June 2017

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to Class 3 on their Music Concert

Thank you to all the parents who came to support their children in the Music Concert on Wednesday evening at Richmond School. It was a fantastic opportunity to experience performing with others; the children were excellent ambassadors for our school, playing their cellos and violins with confidence and singing brilliantly. Thank you to Mr Ramsbottom, Mrs Jameson and Mrs Brooks who gave up their time also.

Instrumental Lessons in school

All children in Class 3 in September will continue to have wider opportunities violin and cello lessons with Mrs Jameson. This is funded by school. If your child is interesting in continuing lessons in Y5/6 these are delivered individually or in small groups but need to be paid for. If your child is interested in starting instrumental lessons in school which are paid for we have places available for flute, clarinet, violin, piano and cello from September. Children can start these lessons from Year 1 or Year 2 upwards depending on the instrument. Please speak to Mrs Dobson or Mrs Newton. If you wish to finish lessons please give half a terms notice in writing.

Class 4 had a great time at Armed Forces Day

Class 4 learnt more about the skills involved in different aspects of life in the army on Thursday. Their behaviour was excellent and they enjoyed celebrating with Jack Tramner who was presented with his prize for winning the Armed Forces Day 2017 badge design.

Camo Day Friday 23rd June

We will once again be supporting and celebrating the contribution made by our armed forces to our country and community. The armed forces charity SSAFA promotes Camo Day in schools. We are asking children to make a donation of £1 to SSAFA and come to school in camouflage/green/yellow themed clothes or their own clothes instead of school uniform next Friday 23rd June.

Summer Music Concert Tuesday 20h June 6pm

A reminder about this concert date to which everyone is invited. Children who are performing have a letter in their book bags today.  These are: Choir; children who have instrumental lessons in school, flute, violin, cello, piano; children who have been attending recorders for more than a term. If your child plays an instrument outside school they are also invited to perform. Please speak to Mrs Dobson.

Sun Safety

As we enjoy the sunshine in school please think about the following for your child on hot days: apply sun cream before they come to school; send a sun hat; send a named water bottle (please take this home each night so it can be properly washed)

The children have access to water fountains throughout the day and water bottles can be refilled.
