Dear Parents,

Whole School trip to Whitby on Wednesday 7th June

A reminder that all the children have had letters about our whole school trip after half term. Please return your consent slips as soon as possible and by next Friday 26th May.

Congratulations on Maths success

We would like to congratulate Harold Raven in Year 6 who has achieved one of the top marks possible in the national UKMT Maths challenge and a Gold certificate. He also qualified to enter the next stage.

Year 1 Phonics Screening

We are required to screen all our Y1 children in June on their knowledge of phonics (letter sounds). This happens as part of the children’s normal classroom activities and lessons with their own class teachers. They are scored out of 40 and this data is shared with you in their Annual Reports. If you would like any more information on their phonics learning or have any concerns please speak to Mrs Reynolds or Miss Jenkins.

Class 3 Music Concert at Richmond School on Wednesday 14th June at 6pm

All the children in Class 3 have wider opportunities cello and violin lessons each Wednesday and have been invited to play in a concert at Richmond School with other primary schools who also participate in this scheme. The children have letters to take home with more information and consent slips.

New diary date – Tuesday 20th June Summer Music Concert 6pm in school

This concert is to provide the following groups of children with an opportunity to perform their music to you: flute players with Mr Waters; Mrs Jameson’s small group/individual piano, violin and cello; children who have sung with choir this half term; Mrs Dobson’s recorder group. We would also like to invite any other children who have instrumental lessons outside school time to perform. Please let Mrs Dobson know if you would like to be involved.

Instrumental Lessons in school

All children in Class 3 in September will continue to have wider opportunities violin and cello lessons with Mrs Jameson which is funded by school. If your child is interested in starting instrumental lessons in school we have places available for flute, clarinet, violin, piano and cello from September, these require a termly payment. Please speak to Mrs Dobson or Mrs Newton. If you wish to finish lessons please give half a terms notice in writing.

Helpers needed to join the Cookery Club Team Please speak to Beth Wheldon if you would like to join the fantastic team of regular cookery club leaders.
