Friday 13th October 2017
Dear Parents,
An excellent Class Assembly this week
Well done to Class 3 for their excellent assembly on Thursday. They gave us a very detailed insight into the work they have done in class this term. We really enjoyed hearing about life as a Viking.
Parent Teacher Consultations next week:
Reception – Wednesday 18th October 1.15pm-5.45pm
Year 1 to Year 6 – Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th October 3.40pm-6.20pm.
This is an excellent opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher and share their progress. You can also see their class books and work. Appointments can be made in the office entrance area or by contacting school. Any queries, please speak to us.
Book Fair in School
Thank you for supporting our Book Fair in school. Thank you to Mrs Newton and her team of children who helped. We raised £210 in commission which will be used to update books in our class and school library.
Individual and family group photographs
These have been taken in school today and children have the proofs and ordering instructions in their book bags. The deadline for return of these to school is the Friday after half term; 3rd November.
Friends of the School AGM Tuesday 17th October 6pm in school
Everyone is welcome. We will be celebrating our achievements during last year and beginning to plan for the year ahead.
Harvest Festival Service in St Mary’s Church, Bolton-on-Swale at 2pm on Friday 20th
October followed by refreshments in the school hall
Everyone is invited to join us for our school Harvest Festival service which will be led by
the children in St Mary’s Church. After the service the children will walk back to school
and whilst classes get ready for home time, refreshments will be served in the Hall by
Friends of the School.
There will be no Special Mentions Assembly next Friday 20th October
As a farming community and Church School we are giving thanks for all that we receive and we are also raising awareness with the children of the needs of others less fortunate in our own community and more globally.
We are raising money for the charity ‘Farm Africa’
School Council are asking everyone to support farmers in East Africa by entering their
‘decorate a welly competition’. Please return your competition entry by Wednesday
18th October with £1 to support Farm Africa.
Harvest gifts of fruit, vegetables and tins
These can be brought into school next week and will be made into Harvest baskets to
distribute to people you nominate in the local community. Other items will be taken to
local food banks. Please nominate people using the slip below.
Congratulations to all our sporting teams
Our Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 boys football teams have competed in the Richmond area tournaments. There were 16 entries in each competition and we were pleased to reach the semi-finals in both. Our mixed Y5/6 netball team finished in first place in the Richmond area tournament this week. They will compete against other areas of North Yorkshire in the next round. Our Y5/6 girls football team are playing this afternoon.
