Dear Parents,
Our Christian Value – Friendship and Harvest Festival Celebrations
Our Harvest Festival Service will be held this afternoon in St Mary’s Church, Bolton-on-
Swale at 2pm followed by refreshments in the school hall. Everyone is invited to join us
for this service which will be led by the children. After the service the children will walk
back to school and whilst classes get ready for home time, refreshments will be served
in the Hall by Friends of the School.
As a farming community and Church School we are giving thanks for all that we receive and we are also raising awareness with the children of the needs of others less fortunate in our own community and more globally.
We are raising money for the charity Farm Africa Thank you to everyone who entered
the School Council’s ‘Decorate a welly competition’. The entries were wonderfully
creative and we enjoyed looking at them all. Winners will be announced in Church
this afternoon. The money donated by entering the competition has helped us to
send £80.00 to Farm Africa to support the work of farmers in countries like Kenya.
Harvest gifts of fruit, vegetables and tins
Thank you for your generosity. We have made up harvest baskets for nominated
people in our local community. If you nominated someone please collect your basket
from the school hall after the service.
Donations to Richmond Food Bank Thank you
The tinned foods you donated have been given to the food bank in Richmond.
Individual and family group photographs
A reminder that the deadline for return of these to school is Friday 3rd November.
Parent Teacher Consultations
Thank you to all our parents and carers who came for their meetings this week. We had excellent attendance and appreciated your views and feedback. It was a good opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate their achievements and learn how you can support them at home also.
Staffing
Mr Ramsbottom will be absent from school from Friday 10th November until Monday 20th November. During this week Class 3 will be taught by Mrs Wright who teaches regularly in Class 3.
PE clothing for after half term
We will continue with outdoor PE after half term in KS2, weather permitting. Children will need a named pair of track suit trousers in their PE bags. These should be different from tracksuit trousers/waterproof trousers which the children can wear at playtimes to go on the field. Please, please name all clothing.
Clubs after half term
These will start straight after half term. Children have received confirmation booking
slips.
Thank you to Friends of the School and all parents
A huge thank you to last year’s Friends of the School Committee and to all parents who supported us so wonderfully. School has received a cheque from Friends of the School for £5,000. This will allow us to update our IT equipment. It is in addition to funding our Pinocchio performance and the Tesco £2,000 for the KS1 outdoor area.
New Committee
Following the AGM we have a new FoS Committee with Beth Wheldon continuing as Chair. Please look on the FoS noticeboard to see the full committee. We are hugely grateful for their voluntary work and for all parents who support us so generously throughout the year.
Halloween School Disco Friday 10th November – details have been sent home. Children often like to dress up for this!
