Parent View - Give Ofsted your view on your child's school

CEOP Internet Safety

Monday 13th July 2015

Dear Parents,

Transition between classes and reports home to parents
Children in Y1 upwards received their reports on Friday. If you would like to discuss this report in more detail please speak to your child’s teacher to make an appointment. On Monday 13th July at 3.30pm we will hold our open classroom drop in. This is an opportunity to visit your child’s new classroom and teacher for September and to see your child’s work and books from this term.

Parental Questionnaire
This year Ofsted are asking all parents to give their views on the Parent View website. This is the same format as paper questionnaires you have filled in previously but requires you to have an email address. Ofsted then access this before they visit your school. It is a very simple questionnaire so if you have more detailed concerns please do speak with me or your child’s teacher. You can access the link for the Parent View questionnaire at the bottom of our school website home page or by putting ‘Parent view’ into a search engine.

Fun Run for Children in Classes 1 and 2 at Richmond School
Well done to all our children who had great fun taking part in this event. There were some great individual performances also.

‘Hoodwinked’ Robin Hood School Production
A huge thank you to all the children and staff who worked so hard to make this performance such a great success. Thank you to all our parents who supported the two nights of performances in the village hall and provided refreshments. These were memorable occasions particularly for our Year 6 Leavers who gave some ‘star’ performances.

Summer Fair Friday 10th July 1.30pm
Thank you to everyone who has so generously sent in donations and supported our Fair. We all had a wonderful afternoon with some highlights from the children being: the cakes and delicious food and treats, the birds of prey, fire engine, bouncy slide, beat the goalie, face painting, young apprentice stalls, raffles and tombola. A special mention also for the wonderful Maypole dancing.

Sports Day Wednesday 15th July at 1.30pm
Everyone is invited to join us for the afternoon to watch the children take part in a variety of activities and races. The children traditionally wear a t shirt that is the colour of their house; red, blue, green or yellow. They do not need them until the day itself. If this is tricky a white t shirt is still fine; the children will have coloured stickers also.

 Parent helpers for Sports Day
If you can help for even part of the afternoon; serving refreshments outside that would be much appreciated. Please speak to myself or Beth Wheldon (FoS).

Fruity Friday has now finished for the summer
Thank you from all the children for supporting their healthy eating initiative again this year.

Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Tuesday 14th July
Each child may bring a teddy bear/soft toy to school on Tuesday. The whole school will have a picnic lunch outside at lunchtime with their teddies. The kitchen will provide a picnic lunch for school dinner children and packed lunch children will eat with them as normal.

Friends of the School Richmond Town Hall Coffee Morning Thursday 16th July 9am
Please support our parents in Richmond Town Hall on Thursday when we are holding a fundraising coffee morning and cake stall. If you can help to set up or serve please speak to Beth Wheldon or myself.

All proceeds from this and the Summer Fair are raised by FoS to support  resources and activities for the children. Last year FoS helped to purchase 16 new laptops and a trolley. This year they are contributing to the development of our Tranquillity Garden which will be completed over the summer holidays.

Year 6 Leaver’s Assembly Friday 17th July 2.30pm
Everyone is welcome to join us for this special occasion when we celebrate and say farewell to our Year 6 Leavers as they move on to Secondary School.

Summer holiday activities for children
We have sent home a variety of leaflets publicising a range of summer holiday activities in the local community. We are once again promoting the Library Service Reading Summer Challenge – Record Breakers. The children enjoyed a presentation last week and leaflets have gone home today.

Wishing you a very happy holiday
We finish for the Summer term on Friday 17th July at 3.30pm. All the staff join with me in wishing you a happy and restful summer break. The children return to school for the Autumn Term on Tuesday 8th September 2015.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any queries

Yours sincerely
Nicola Dobson
