Parent Teacher Consultations
Thank you to everyone for your excellent attendance this week. We really do value the opportunity to work in partnership with you so that your child can make the very best progress possible as well as being happy in school.
We are sending home a regular questionnaire so you can share your thoughts with us. This feedback is used to improve and develop our school further. It is also a requirement of Ofsted that we seek your views on our school. If you have a particular issue you would like to discuss in detail or need an individual response to, please contact us directly. The questionnaire is anonymous
‘Keeping your child safe online ‘Parent’s Meeting, Monday 9th November 7pm in school
North Yorkshire Police are hosting a meeting for parent’s to focus on all aspects of keeping your child safe online. The North Yorkshire Safeguarding Board publication, ‘Keeping your child safe online’ was sent home in hard copy this week. The police advise that this meeting is suitable for parents and carers only; not children.
Remembrance Sunday and Acts of Remembrance
Families are invited to be part of Scorton’s Act of Remembrance this Sunday 8th November in the Memorial Institute Hall at 10.45am. Children who are part of uniformed groups, Brownies, Cubs are meeting outside Scorton Post office at 10.30am to join the procession.
In school we are selling poppies and will hold our own Act of Remembrance with Rev Yvonne at 11am on Wednesday 11th November.
Shoeboxes for Christmas
We are once again taking part in the ‘Operation Christmas Child’ shoebox
appeal. These shoeboxes will be given as gifts at Christmas to disadvantaged children
in Eastern Europe, Africa and Central Asia. Details of how to put your shoebox
together have been sent home. If you cannot fill a whole shoe box please bring in 1
or 2 items and we will make up a joint shoe box. Shoeboxes need to be returned to
school by Friday 13th November.
Thank you for supporting our Farm Africa Harvest Charity
The children raised almost £100 and learnt lots about the sweet potato also!
Thank you for supporting our Book Fair in School
Thanks to your excellent support the school has received £309 in commission which will be spent on new books for the class and school library.
Clubs start again next week
Club confirmation clubs have been returned today. As the nights become darker and the weather is less reliable it is challenging to offer a wide range of sporting clubs. We do try to compensate for this at other times of the year!

HMS Heroes Annual Service for Service Children in Ripon Cathedral, Friday 6th November
We are delighted to have been invited to take part in this service. A small group of service children will be travelling to Ripon Cathedral and processing with our school banner.
Class 4’s Parental Class Assembly
Parents and carers from Class 4 are invited to join us next Thursday 12st November at 9.30am for their Class Assembly.
Flu vaccination Y1/2
For those parents who have given consent, this will take place in school on 24.11.15.
Friends of the School
Thank you to those who supported our Harvest refreshments and cake stall. We raised £95 to support additional activities for children in school.
Halloween School Disco Friday 13th November – details have been sent home. Children often like to dress up for this! Please complete your booking form and note that all children, both KS1 and KS2 need accompanying by an adult at this event.
Children in Need Friday 13th November – Non uniform day
The School Council recognise that we have all been very busy recently raising money for lots of charities. We will have a non-uniform day next Friday 13th November and children may make a contribution of £1 to Children in Need if they would like to.
School Staffing news
After 10 years as a Teaching Assistant in our school, Mrs Rutland will be retiring from full time work at Christmas. We will express our thanks nearer the time and will still see her as she plans to do some relief work. We will be advertising shortly for a full time, experienced KS2 Teaching Assistant to start in January 2016.
