Year 6 Residential Visit to Marrick Priory

We welcome back our Y6 children this afternoon who have had an exciting residential week at Marrick Priory. They have been abseiling, kayaking, beck scrambling, orienteering and completed a high and low ropes course, not to mention the challenge of living together away from home. A special thank you to Mrs Jones and Mrs Flower who have been with them for the week.

Individual School Photographs Friday 16th October

Tempest school Photography will take individual photographs of each child in school next Friday morning. Children who have siblings in school will also be photographed together. If you have a younger sibling and would like them to be included these photos will be taken before school from 8.30am in the school hall. You may then choose to buy these photos but they are not otherwise circulated.

Book Fair in School

We will host a book fair in school which will open after school on Friday 16th October and before and after school until Thursday 22nd October. School receives a generous commission from the sale of these books which we use to update our class and school library.

What can I do to support  my child’s learning in school ?

At our Parent Teacher consultations in October we will discuss further your child’s progress and targets with you. You can support your child by:

  • Listening to your child read at home as often as possible and discussing the meaning behind the text, any tricky words
  • Taking time to support their homework activities
  • For children in Y2 upwards, learning their times tables so that by the end of Y4 they know all their tables to x12

Friends of the School AGM

Thank you to all the parents who came to support the AGM last Monday. A particular thank you to Helen Browne and Janet Pringle who are stepping down as Chair and Treasurer and have given so generously of their time over the past few years.

Our new Chair of Friends of the School is Beth Wheldon and with her new committee she will be letting you know how you can continue to support the children in school.
