Mrs Clare White - Chair

I have been a member of the governing body of St. Marys, Bolton-on-Swale since October 2010; my journey began when I became a Foundation Governor, giving me the knowledge of what ‘being a governor’ is all about.  I am link governor for Science, Early Years and SEN, in which I have a particular interest.  I also sit on the Resources and Curriculum Committees.

I have two daughters in the school, one of whom has just started in Key Stage 2 and the elder who is in her final year at St. Marys.  I  held the post of Vice-Chair for two years before I was appointed Chair of Governors in 2013.  I am a very regular visitor to the school not least in my capacity as After school Cookery club helper, where I get great pleasure seeing the children flourish and learn new skills.

I believe it is important that the children of St. Marys are given the greatest opportunity to flourish, not only through their academic success, but through what they achieve in their sporting, musical and artistic development; the school fully embodies the  philosophy of ‘Developing the whole child’.

Mrs Helen Richardon

In November 2014, I was delighted to be elected as a Parent Governor and the following year was appointed a Foundation Governor.

I live close to the school buildings in Scorton and have two children currently in school.  I always look forward to spending time in school as a governor or parent; whether to enjoy the class or End of Term productions and assemblies; or when serving on the Curriculum and Admissions Committees, or as Year 3 Link Governor.

I am privileged to have the opportunity to contribute to the work of such a strong, able and committed Governing Body in supporting the continued development of the School and in maintaining a secure, positive and nurturing learning environment.

Dual qualified as both a Higher Rights solicitor and barrister, I specialise in contentious disputes and civil litigation.  I have been in continuous practice for almost 20 years and offer considerable practical experience as a professional working in SRA and FSA regulated environments across this period.  I have operated within senior management and executive roles for the last 10 years and offer proven ability in legal audit, risk assessment, strategic analysis and change management / planning.

Mrs Cathy MacNamara

I have served on the governing body at our school since 2008 and am currently Safeguarding governor, having been both Chair and Vice-chair in the past.  I have three teenage girls, two of which are at St Francis Xavier and one who is just started her A Levels at QE in Darlington.  As a Foundation Governor and practicing Christian part of my role is to help the school to build and maintain its strong Christian ethos, ensuring we keep the needs and well-being of the children central to all that we do.

Having the opportunity to work with the school and my fellow governors is a real pleasure and watching the school and the children develop and thrive makes all the hard work feel very worthwhile.

Mrs Janet Pringle

I was elected as Community Governor in September 2013 and serve on the Curriculum and Admissions Committees, as well as having specific responsibility for English and Geography.

I am a member of the Methodist Church and this helps with both maintaining links between the school and other Christian denominations and in supporting the strong Christian ethos of the school.

Having had 2 children through the school I have always found it to be a welcoming place and believe that both staff and governors do their very best to help each child reach their full potential, with a particular focus on developing the whole child. I’m honoured to work closely with staff and governors to help our school to continue to develop this vision. I believe it is important that children leave their primary education well equipped for secondary school, both in terms of academic results and as well rounded individuals.

Mrs Lesley Chandler

I first became involved with the school in 2005 when my eldest child, now studying for GCSE’s, joined its Reception year. My youngest child is currently in Year 5.

I have extensive experience in Accounting, Audit & Finance and was involved in auditing accounts at the school for many years prior to becoming a Foundation Governor in 2010. My area of subject responsibility is Maths due to my strong interest in this area.

I am a previous chair of the Finance Committee and currently sit on the Resources and Curriculum Committees.

Having been involved with the school for over 10 years I have had the privilege of contributing to its continuous development including strengthening links with the Church and wider community.

I am also an active member of the Friends Committee of the school and help run an After school club once a week.

Mrs Lisa Hutchinson

I was delighted to be elected as a Parent Governor in December 2013.    I am a member of the Resources Committee and am also governor with Art and Design subject responsibilities.  I have two children in the school in years 3 and 5 respectively.

As a governor I have been able to gain a privileged and valuable insight into the day to day running of our school and into primary school education as a whole, as well as contributing to and supporting the continued development of the school.  I am particularly proud of the caring, family environment which staff, governors, pupils and their families all work so hard to maintain.  This in turn enables every child to strive to meet their full potential either in terms of their academic attainment or their particular strengths and talents to prepare them well for the next step of their education.

Mrs Nicola Dobson

I was delighted to be appointed Head teacher at Bolton-on-Swale St Mary’s Church of England Aided Primary School in April 2010. Now in my 6th year of headship it is a privilege to work with such a talented and enthusiastic staff team, wonderful children and a committed and able governing body. I enjoy the strong partnerships we enjoy with parents and families as we work together to provide the very best primary education for the children in our care.

I particularly value the strong Christian ethos of our school and its parish and wider community links. Our school has a warm family atmosphere and we are committed to developing the whole child and their individual gifts and talents in a caring, happy and supportive environment.

I bring with me a wealth of experience teaching across the primary age range in a variety of schools and education authorities for over 20 years. I came to North Yorkshire in 2006 to be Deputy Head at RAF Leeming Primary School. I continue to enjoy teaching in the classroom and am also involved in the professional development of practising teachers; running courses, supporting aspiring and new head teachers and working in partnership with Durham University to train student teachers.

Rev Yvonne Callaghan

It a great privilege to serve as a Foundation Governor of St Mary’s C of E Primary School as The Vicar for The Parish of Easby, Skeeby, Brompton on Swale and Bolton on Swale.  I have a passion for all children to know they are special and for each child to know that their education and needs matter. I find St Mary’s a happy and encouraging place for all children of all faiths and of none to learn and flourish in all areas.  I am passionate about the Christian Ethos of St Mary’s, and its Church School Distinctiveness which is obvious just from being in the building and among the staff and children, this ripples into the way school and family life connects with the Church within our parish.

Previous to living in Brompton on Swale, I have been a school governor in many capacities, over many years and in many schools, including Special Needs Schools, and none denominational schools.  I have enjoyed working as a psychotherapist in my own practice and within other organisations, as a training support worker for those with mental heath problems and substance addictions, a Wine Master, a Nursery Nurse and as a Fraud investigator in a bank.  I am a wife to Neil, and mum to Jacob and Joseph.  I hope that through my wide experiences of life I may contribute positively to the life, spirit and energy of St Mary’s C of E School today and into the future.
