Class 1 and 2 enjoyed their visit to the Locomotion Railway Museum Both classes had a
wonderful day exploring the trains and taking part in drama based workshops on the life of the
engineer, George Stephenson. They discovered how to become engineers and learnt more about the
first steam train, Locomotion No.1 and the Darlington to Stockton Railway. The children were
complimented by museum staff and visitors for their excellent behaviour and good manners. The
Museum is in Shildon, about 30 minutes from Scorton and is free to visit. We didn’t have time to
explore everything so you might want to visit again!
